I haven't been on a quality road trip in a while but Sam Shepard was able to remind me what it feels like. Here's an excerpt from his short story "Falling Without End"
Relentless driving. Driving until the body disappears, the legs fall off, the eyes bleed, the hands go numb, the mind shuts down, and then, suddenly, something begins to appear.
Yep, that's pretty much how it feels. I'm ready to go.
