Into the Wild
Ok, first the important news. If you didn't catch the season finale of Drag Race the winner was Tyra Sanchez. I approve, but I still like Raven better. Next on tap, who will win the Amazing Race? I want either the cowboys or the brothers to win. The detectives are pretty blah to me and those F-ing models can suck it. Speaking of amazing races, the Cartwright's and Heffron-Cartwrights are heading out to DC today (hey Brendan) to catch a flight to Namibia tomorrow. I'm totally going to pretend like I'm on the amazing race. I'm gonna run through the airport and and look really frantic all the time in matching outfits. Yes, there will video confessionals, yes, there will be challenges, and yes, I will be the first to arrive at the pit stop. More importantly than my awkward reality TV show fantasies, in only a couple of days we will get to see Caitlin and go on a fabulous tour of Namibia. I don't know about being able to update on the blog, but since we won't always be out in the middle of nowhere and actually be in hotels there is a better chance that I can send out updates. Later Gator.

The Main Event
I certainly do have a weakness for contest themed reality TV shows. Shows like Amazing Race, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef, Shear Genius and so on. I've recently been watching RuPaul's Drag Race which is about to wrap things up with its season finale where the winner, America's Next Drag Superstar, will be announced. Last season a drag queen from Cameroon won which I thought was pretty cool and it was really interesting to hear her talk about femininity and masculinity in Africa and how she was received there. There are three contenders for the spot of Super Glitter Fabulous Drag Queen and they are:
Tyra Sanchez
Jujubee
and Raven
I like all of the queens but I would have to say my favorite is Raven. Tune in this Monday and see who will have to lipsynch for their life.

Shining Star
So, apparently my mother is now some sort of film star. Yes, she appears in a documentary about Seventh Day Adventists. Pat can be seen rocking out on the Gamma Knife only the way she can. The documentary is about health care, plain clothes, sensible shoes, and the vegetarian lifestyle...one might say all were perfected by the Adventists.

Namibia Round II
Last time I went to Namibia my trip got the unofficial title of "Not Your Grandmother's Africa", well this time around I think it should be called "Your Grandma Who Wears Animal Prints and Thinks African Tribal Culture is Quaint and Likes to use it in her Home Decorating Trip to Africa"...My point is last time I went to Namibia I did very little in the way of touristy things, but this time we are all about the hotels, indoor plumbing, rented vehicles, food, and sightseeing. I'm very much excited by this and I have lots yet to do to get ready. Among other things I'm practising for when we go to Etosha to see all of Africa's wildlife. I've set up my own "watering hole" in the backyard and have dressed certain dogs up as African animals. Alma as a dik dik, Bowie is a warthog, and Ivan is a she lion. Oh, and Phineas of course is a rare breed of awesome.

Lady Business
So, I just discovered that there is a Women's Professional Soccer league (WPS) thanks to my good friend the internets. This is very exciting news. I usually care very little for professional sports, the exception being soccer, and women's soccer! well, that's the best kind there is. Consider me a new supporter. Sad to say there are no teams based out of Ohio. The closest team would be the Chicago Red Stars. There are 8 teams total. The other 7 are the Washington Freedom, Sky Blue FC (NJ/NY), the St. Louis Athletica, Philadelphia Independence, the FC Gold Pride (Bay Area), the Boston Breakers, and the Atlanta Beat. I'm inclined to support the Chicago Red Stars due to their proximity (midwest pride!), my love of the city, and also I like their uniforms. Check out their website womensprosoccer.com for more info.

Mystery Solved
First- Nancy Cartwright's Dad uses the drive-thru. His purchase of choice is...wait I don't think I should share that information. Customer/Server confidentiality.
Second- My manager told me who he was, apparently they've conversed.
Thirdly- His license plate reads "Bart Rox"

No Homers
I served Bart Simpson's dad today (and also on several other occasions) today at Tim Horton's. No, not Homer Simpson...it was Nancy Cartwright's father (Nancy Cartwright being the voice of Bart Simpson for all of you folks out there who aren't up to date on your pop culture references also she's from Kettering, so are her parents). Anyway, being a lifelong fan of the Simpsons it's kind of cool to "meet" the parent of one of your favorite cartoon characters. No worries, I didn't blurt out anything stupid like "I love your daughter's voice". That would be creepy and awkward. I was very professional, I'm always very professional.

Life
So, I don't know if any of you have been watching the Discovery Channel's mini series Life, kind of like the sequel to Planet Earth. I have not seen a whole lot of it because I work when new installments of the series are shown. I did catch an episode on reptiles. It was good, but what blew me away was that I'm pretty sure Oprah was narrating. I don't know if it was this one episode or the whole series, I hope it's the whole series. Oprah! you are my Life.

Awkward Moment #329
Last night at work I was going about performing the tasks that were expected of me. One of those tasks is taking the garbage out and putting it into the dumpsters behind the building in a specific dumpster area. This is something I've done several times so it's really no big deal. Well, last night a huge gust of wind came and closed the dumpster area gate thus locking me in. Using my attractive and practical headset I was able to contact my coworker and humbly ask her to please let me out. I might add that this is a person I had just met that night, she was just filling in for someone who couldn't make it. Oh the adventures of a Tim Horton's employee.
